Princeton University
IntroductionThe biggest pieces of advice I would give to a high school student considering Princeton would be: 1. Starting your freshman year try to get the best grades you can. It really helps to have good grades all the way throughout high school. Remember a lot of the other applicants are going to have amazing grades as well. 2. Take the hardest curriculum available to you. This shows that you are committed to your work and enjoy learning, as well as discovering. 3. Join a club or two and do something that really interests you. Don't just try to do the things that you think the colleges would like to see. They want to see what you will bring to the campus, they want to see what makes you- you. 4. Show leadership in school. Whether it be in student council, or a club president- whathaveyou it shows personal skills as well as leadership skills that you will bring to the campus. 5. Follow you passions, do things that students wouldn't normally do and do them consistently... I love to write, so I focused on entering poetry contests, getting published and eventually writing a book. 6. Get good test scores. Pretty self-explanatory. If your truly considering Princeton you're going to want to have great grades and high test scores, but they don't have to be perfect. Remember the administration wants to see individuality. 7. Apply and recieve the letter.
I think that I chose this school because of the unparalled resources here in terms of the human capital. The campus is small and managable, but beautiful at the same time. Everything is so complimentary to the great education that I recieve. The people here are laid back and listen to what you have to say, but at the same time they are all brilliant in their own way. You get the best of all worlds here, whether it be the small town that you prefer- or the lights of New York City that you enjoy. (New York's a one hour train ride away). It's just the community that develops around Princeton that is so refreshing and creates a welcoming and chill atmosphere. Being ranked number one in the county is a plus as well.
The kinds of students that should stay away from Princeton are: People who don't enjoy the brilliance of others, people who can't tolerate some arduous work, people who couldn't survive some social stratification and people who don't want to enjoy their college experience!
Campus Life and Social LifeOn Thursdays and Saturdays everyone goes down to the street and eats, hangs out. There are some clubs, but if your under 21 your not getting in. Our sports aren't amazing, but we do try and support our school. When we conquered the ivy league in football everyone got together and we had a huge bonfire. There are a million clubs on campus for whatever you are interested in. If there isn't one for what you are interested in the administration supports you making your own club. There isn't really a lot of greek life, because the eating clubs kind of take it's place. There where we eat, and provide kind of like a social network for students. Five of the eating clubs you can just sign up for, but the other five you have to bicker for. It's kind of like a chill form of Rush.

AcademicsWell, obviously the proffesors at princeton are amazing. Lots of them are very distinguished in their field and know what their teaching. I also enjoy the fact that the classes are all relatively small. Only a few classes are taught by TA's which is also nice. Some good departments are... Everything. Practically, every department here is taught by a leader in that field and will benefit you greatly. The workload is obviously, by Princeton's reputation, pretty challenging. It can be arduous at times but it's very managable. It's different from high school because you have to manage your own time.
Student BodyMost of the students here are laid back and respect one another. When coming to an ivy league university I thought that they would be stuck up and what not, but here the students are like, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm here". They're really thankful and grateful for the fact that they got in. Most of the people are really fun and outgoing and love to go hang out, go to concerts, etc.
In Closing...If your choosing between other ivy's I'd choos Princeton because you have everything and anything you could ever want. Beautiful campus, small town, big city, down to earth people, brilliant people, great professors/ TA's, amazing university food, great dorms, eating clubs, no greek life, night life, diversity, small campus, great networking opportunities- Princeton gives students a lot of chances for internships..., Princeton looks amazing on your resume, great education, good looking people, good times, life just waiting to be lived.
Hope that helps you in your decisions on where to spend the next four years of your life.
Who knows, you might be sitting in the same library I am someday.
Good luck!
